Upstate English for All offers both Lecture & Mixed Skills course options for our students. What's the difference?
Our courses are an excellent value, beginning at only $10 per instructional hour. We offer scholarships, sliding scales, and payment plans to suit your budget.
Lecture-Style Courses
- Pre-registration required for 10-week sessions in Fall, Winter, Spring, and Summer
- A structured syllabus with start and end dates
- Lecturer-driven: a more traditional, structured academic experience, like a college class
- Certificates of Accomplishment offered at the end of each semester
- A formal assessment is required to advance to the next level
- Winter 2025-2026 Lecture-Style courses include:
- Grammar for Composition (4 hours a week, $400)
- Spanish, CEFR Levels A0 – B2 (4 hours a week, $400)
- Advanced Communication Skills, CEFR Level C1 (4 hours a week, $400)
- Vocabulary Builder for TOEFL, IELTS, GRE & GMAT (2 hours a week, $200)
Mixed Skills Courses
- Year-round, rolling admission
- A continual calendar with scheduled breaks and holidays
- Student-driven: what do you want to focus on? Sessions are flexible and incorporate student skill requests
- Certificates of Accomplishment offered at the end of each CEFR Level achieved
- A informal assessment is required to advance to the next level (available upon student request or instructor recommendation)
- Winter 2025-2026 Mixed Skills courses include:
- English, CEFR levels A0 – B2
- Courses are $400 for 4 hours of weekly instruction (10 weeks), and this price can be pro-rated if students join the class beyond the start date.
Pricing & Payment Options
Semester Totals:
- New Student Registration (one-time fee): Includes entrance interview, initial assessment, course counseling, admittance to six Community Engagement sessions each semester...as well as Conversation Circles, Book Club, Bilingual Chess, and FREE Citizenship classes! $125
- Tuition: $400
- Books and materials fee: ~$50 per course
Paying Tuition
- We accept all major credit cards, Venmo, and PayPal.
- Cash, check, or money order payments can be made by in-person appointment only.
- Sliding scales and payment plans are available...just ask!
- Dr. Ted Way Memorial Scholarship Program offers full and partial scholarships to students who qualify.
